HOLDING The shock of my life 4

Today I got the shock of my life; I was pulled over by the police and told your driving an unregistered vehicle. My jaw hit the ground several times, how could this be I’m always up to date with all my bills.

At fifty-two years of age I make sure things are paid & I’m covered especially with MAIB, but no! I have a $300 fine in my hand to prove it, how!?

Naturally I came straight home and rang Dept of Infrastructure, Energy and Resources and asked if my car was registered. The answer: no! So I asked what, is the address on the registration?

PO Box 2 Dodges Ferry

This is the address that was changed in 2008 to my house address, same as my license, changed at the same time. At that point the woman said oh yes here it is 2008 in was changed.

I asked, well why was it changed back to my old address?

Long silence… then her answer, I don’t know.

My Registration has been coming to my home address since 2008. 2010 renewal went to my previous address and would have been returned no longer at this address.

Having to use my car daily I rushed to see what I had to do to get it registered again, had to put it over the pits, there goes $100 but also comes the answer. I was informed by the lady at the car inspection place that this has happened to lots of people.

Apparently the Dept of Rego had a major computer crash and had backed up with old Data! She also stated that I would get no joy complaining about it either, no-one had (red rag to a bull, I can tell you).

So I have been driving around for the 4 months taking an incredible risk without knowing, thank God for the police pulling me over and finding out. I could have had an accident where someone was hurt or even worse killed!

Now I’m off the road, I can’t drive my car because he found a slight crack in the muffler (not audible) and I can’t get that fixed for several days. So now I’ll be out of pocket for around $1000 all up.
