The 2010 Tasmanian Youth Parliament will be in session from Wednesday 8 September to Friday 10 September. Youth Parliament debates are open to the public!

Come along and check out some of Tasmania’s brightest young minds as they tackle the most important issues in Tasmanian politics. The participants have written their own bills to be debated by the Youth Parliament, covering topics as wide ranging as the legalisation of prostitution, the promotion of local produce, and reform of Tasmania’s electoral and parliamentary systems.

There are also two special sessions on Friday 10 September, one where the participants will debate the cost of their bills in a special budget session, and one where the participants will get a chance to talk about the Youth Motion, an important document of all the policy objectives they’ve come up with over the course of the Youth Parliament programme.

The Youth Motion, along with all the bills which pass through the Parliament are sent on to Tasmania’s political leaders, as a representation of youth opinion on some of Tasmania’s trickiest issues.

Come along and enjoy the fiery debate and careful analysis which is bound to characterise the 2010 Tasmanian Youth Parliament.
