Food for thought at estate planning seminars during Seniors Week
Whether it’s passing down a family recipe, sharing stories around the dinner table, or celebrating special occasions with those we love, food brings people together. This Seniors Week (13-19 October), the Public Trustee and the Office of the Public Guardian are encouraging Tasmanians to embrace the theme of ‘Food for Thought’ by planning ahead.
The ‘Food for Thought’ seminars will show how planning ahead is one of the most meaningful ways to care for yourself and your loved ones by making sure your wishes are known well before they’re needed.
The free seminars will explore the key documents that protect your wishes and support your family when it matters most:
· Will – who gets what when you pass
· Enduring Power of Attorney – who manages your finances if you can’t
· Advance Care Directive – your wishes for medical care
· Enduring Guardianship – who makes health and lifestyle decisions for you if needed
Public Trustee CEO, Todd Kennedy, said planning ahead is like giving your family a recipe to follow in difficult times.
“Just as a recipe explains how to make the perfect dish, an estate plan gives your friends and family the recipe to respect your wishes,” Kennedy said.
The public seminars will be held across the state during Seniors Week:
Devonport – Tuesday 15 October, 10:30 – 12:00 at the Don Centre
Launceston – Wednesday 16 October, 10:30 – 12:00 at the Launceston Conference Centre
Hobart – Thursday 17 October, 10:30 to 12:00 at C3, 64 Anglesea Street, South Hobart
Everyone is invited to attend to better understand the importance of planning ahead and the key documents you can prepare now, to ensure your wishes are known and respected in the future.
Bookings are essential. Reserve your free spot now at publictrustee.tas.gov.au or call 1800 068 784.
