The Mudwalls Road Action group recently stepped up its campaign to fix Mudwalls Road. On Monday night the Action Group had over 50 local residents and concerned road users attended a Community meeting demanding action be taken to fix the road.
After the Road has faced years of neglect by the State government, the Mudwalls Road Action Group’s public campaign is for the long-term benefit of the local community, business, local producers, locals and transport operators.
We have commenced discussions with local, State and Federal politicians on how best to fix the road, the time frames involved, staging the repairs and costs involved.
We are talking to all major political parties at both a State and Federal level to get a commitment to fix this road which is an important transport corridor and in a dangerous condition. Too many regional roads have been ignored for too long.
It is time for Mr Aird and Mr Sturges to stop avoiding the issue and to come up with a real solution and the money for a dangerous road with all political parties and levels of government working together.
A Biker:
Surely this is the worst piece of road in Australia. It is a disgrace, a dangerous disgrace brought on not just by years of indefensible neglect, but failed public policy. The road has for years been used as a short-cut for trucks.
What a stupidity to allow this. It is scenic drive. It is a favoured road for bikers and bicycle riders. It’s bad enough having soft edges to run of into. It’s even worse when riders have to dodge bloody great, seemingly bottomless potholes.
