New East Coast venue riding a wave of success
Having only been open just over a year Easy Tiger – featuring a cinema, two eateries, a bar, beer garden and brewery – has already become the social hub of St Helens.
Now the venue’s rapid success is being recognised with nine nominations in tonight’s Tasmanian Hospitality Awards.
“We saw the potential in the venue, which formerly operated as a roller-skating rink, and we have dived in headfirst to make it something really special,” said managing director Jason Unwin.
“We’ve been overwhelmed by the support from the local community and visitors who have embraced our venue’s offerings of great food, entertainment and our newest addition – Thirsty Tiger Brewery.”
Tasmanian Hospitality Association CEO Steve Old said it was fantastic to see a new venue thriving, particularly in a regional area.
“With nominations in categories including Best Outdoor Experience, Best Hospitality Experience and Outstanding Contribution To Your Local Community, the Easy Tiger team should be extremely proud.
“These awards highlight the best our state has to offer in tourism and hospitality and it’s clear this new venue is ticking so many boxes.”
Mr Unwin said he was particularly delighted to be nominated for Best Live Music or Entertainment Venue due to Easy Tiger’s support of local talent.
“And the Disability Inclusion and Access Award shows our focus on making the venue accessible to all is paying off.
“To be nominated for Best Draught Beer Quality is quite a thrill, given how new our beer is.”
Easy Tiger is now raising capital to expand and take the business to the next level.
“We see the growth potential in the seaside town of St Helens. It boasts some of the world’s best beaches, a thriving mountain bike scene, bustling fishing community and a rapidly increasing accommodation options.
