News today that the owners of the Bridport premises have served a writ on the owner of Southern Shipping raises new concerns about the status of Southern Shipping’s shipping contract to Flinders Island.

Infrastructure Minister Graeme Sturges must today explain what bearing – if any – this development has on the contract, given clause 17 3a) of Southern Shipping’s contract which states that the contract can be terminated if:

· “distress or execution is levied against any property of SSC and is not paid out within fourteen business days”

And further, clause 17 3e) which says the contract may be terminated:

· “if SCC becomes… unable to pay its debts as and when they become due.”

Further, has the Minister written to Southern Shipping with a please explain as he promised to do last week, at my urging?

If so, has his Department inspected Southern Shipping’s books yet?

Some answers please, Mr Sturges.
