Conservationists say the Upper Florentine should be world heritage too. It’s cold and wet forest, truly wild, a remnant of greater original swathes bordering the island’s south-west. This year the first of 40-odd planned Upper Florentine coupes was logged to meet industry needs for high value sawlog and veneer.
