PRO-ROAD E-PETITION SHOW LITTLE PUBLIC SUPPORT FOR FORESTRY TASMANIA’S TARKINE DRIVE
A Bryan Green sponsored ‘e-petition’ calling on Tasmanians to support the Forestry Tasmania Tarkine Drive proposal has failed dismally with only 52 signatures collected in the six week period. The ‘e-petition’ on the Tasmanian Parliament website closed last week, and draws attention to the public’s rejection of this project.
“The public has spoken. This project is a dud”, said Tarkine National Coalition’s Tourism Project Officer, Scott Jordan.
“The tourism industry doesn’t want it. The public doesn’t want it. It’s only Forestry Tasmania that does want it. Premier Bartlett should drop this proposal.”
Contrasting this is the Tarkine National Coalition’s anti-road “Save the Tarkine” Facebook group which started in November with 24 invitations and has now grown to 2,656 members.
TNC will pursue it’s own e-petition in the coming weeks.
