Dr Alison Bleaney Break O’ Day Catchment Risk Group
MANY Tasmanians are frustrated by the lack of protection from pesticide contamination provided by the State Government. Government regulators consistently appear to favor pesticide users over community members and often dismiss concerns with non-comprehensive investigations. The current level of Government protection for the environment, drinking water and human health from chemical contamination would seem inadequate. Many individuals and community groups have taken their concerns to the respective agencies only to be disappointed and frustrated by the lack of change in Government approach. We ask these concerned members of the public to contact The Break O’ Day Catchment Risk Group with any pesticide data such as neighbor notification, photos, test results or personal experiences etc. By compiling this information we hope to lobby for positive improvement to this unacceptable situation.
