‘Permission To Trespass’ Returns

From July 1 to July 15, 2026, the highly anticipated Permission to Trespass event returns, offering exclusive access to private properties, locked gates, and untold stories across the breathtaking Wynyard and Table Cape regions.

Part of the OFF season and the WXNW Illuminate events, Permission to Trespass is designed to connect visitors with the region’s rich cultural heritage, stunning landscapes, and immersive local traditions, Permission to Trespass offers a winter festival experience that is opens the locked doors and swings open the closed farm gates. Whether you are a history lover, a foodie, or an adventure seeker, there is an unforgettable winter experience waiting behind the gates.

The two-week program invites locals and visitors alike to grab their winter woollies and experience a curated lineup of unique events, including:

  • Gather & Glow Night Market (Opening Night – July 3): Wynyard’s Goldie Street lights up after hours with live entertainment, fire pots, and tasty bites from local foodies to kick off the festival.
  • Moonlight Stories: Inner Light (July 3-5 & 10-12): Brave the cool Table Cape Lighthouse lawns under the moonlight, for a beautiful sound and light projection artwork by Tasmanian projection artist, Alex Moss.
  • tunapri Patuyala – A Palawa Guided Tour: Join Palawa guide Jye Crosswell in Boat Harbour for a 1.5-hour on-country cultural walk highlighting the natural and cultural wonders of the northwest, complete with a hands-on cultural craft activity.
  • Exclusive Culinary & Beverage Experiences: Enjoy intimate Premium Whisky Tastings with the Head Distiller at Alchymia Distillery, or breathe in the crisp coastal air before an epicurean breakfast during Yoga in the Paddock at Table House Farm.
  • Arts, Culture & Community: Participate in the Shed Choir at the historic ‘The Don’ shed, explore collaborative exhibitions at Art in the Dark, or listen to choral masterpieces at Voices by Candlelight inside the mysterious halls of the Wynyard Masonic Lodge.
  • Family-Friendly Adventures: Get up close with alpacas at the Towarri Alpacas Open Gate Day, or contribute to a community paper-mâché wombat at Creative Paper’s papermaking workshops.

Self-guided explorers can also enjoy anytime activities, such as the immersive Table Cape Sound Walk, featuring an app-triggered soundscape by Tasmanian sound artist Rachel Meyers, or the Wynyard Living History Walk where old photographs come to life through the scan of a QR code.
