Gambling Study Seeks Tasmanian Voices
The University of Tasmania, in partnership with Auckland University of Technology, has launched a new research project examining gambling experiences across Tasmania and is calling for community participation.
Supported by funding from the Tasmanian Government’s Department of Premier and Cabinet, the study seeks to deepen understanding of gambling’s effects by collecting insights from people with both lived and professional experience.
Eligibility extends to adults aged 18 and over who have gambled in the past or currently do, individuals who live with or support someone affected by gambling, and those working within organisations that assist people experiencing gambling harm in Tasmania. The project covers all gambling types except lotteries.
Researchers emphasise that they are interested in the full spectrum of experiences, from low-risk gambling to situations where harm has occurred.
Participants may contribute through interviews or focus groups conducted at various locations around Tasmania. Those wishing to take part can register via an online survey here: Gambling Harms Project Registration.
The research team hopes the findings will elevate Tasmanian perspectives and contribute to a stronger understanding of gambling-related harm within the community.
