Netball Tasmania Intend to Submit Expression of Interest for Suncorp Super Netball Licence
Netball Tasmania would like to announce its intent to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) to Netball Australia for an owner’s licence in the Suncorp Super Netball (SSN) League. The announcement follows the league’s expansion update and the opening of the EOI process on Friday the 28th of November, 2025.
Netball Tasmania has been preparing extensively for this opportunity, which has been long anticipated.
The establishment of an elite SSN team in Tasmania is expected to elevate the sport locally and deliver transformational benefits for athletes, coaches, officials and the broader Tasmanian community.
Supported by experienced industry professionals, Netball Tasmania is conducting comprehensive due diligence to ensure the long-term viability and success of an SSN team in the state. The final proposal will reflect best practice and position Tasmania as a compelling choice for league expansion.
Importantly, Netball Tasmania have had positive conversations with the Tasmanian Government, who share our belief around pursuing these opportunities for pathway growth and development. The organisation is committed to delivering a pathway that inspires the next generation of athletes and strengthens the broader netball community.
Netball Tasmania CEO Penny Shearer said the submission is a carefully planned step toward a bigger goal. “This is our chance to bring a top-level netball team to Tasmania,” she said.
“We’ve thought this through every step of the way, making sure it’s sustainable and truly benefits our players, coaches and the community.”
“Together, the Tasmanian netball community has worked toward this goal for years,” Shearer said.
“Now is the time to stand behind it with pride and conviction, demonstrating the strength, unity, and passion of netball in Tasmania.”
