Tasmanian Cricket Campaign Featuring David Boon
Media release – Cricket Tasmania, 6 August 2025
Cricket Tasmania launches new TVC Campaign!
Tasmanian cricket. What does it mean to you?
For over 15 months, Cricket Tasmania has been working hard behind the scenes to launch a new Television Commercial (TVC) that captures what it means to play cricket in Tasmania.
Who better than Tasmanian cricket legend David Boon to narrate and feature in a campaign that showcases the game being played in a variety of different contexts across our state.
Boon discussed the emotion the TVC evoked in him after he took part in the filming and then watched the ad in full.
“This video encapsulates what it means to me to play cricket in Tasmania, a bat, ball and stumps, played with passion in any environment.
“It was enjoyable to pull the gloves and pads back on at Ninja Stadium again, and help promote the game of cricket in Tasmania, in what is a great time to be around cricket in our state,” said Boon.
The campaign also features Tasmania’s most recent Australian cricketer, Mitch Owen, who is pictured in his Tasmanian creams walking onto the hallowed turf of Ninja Stadium.
The TVC shows young Tasmanians swinging bats in the street, in the park or in the nets, reminding us that cricket is not just a sport, it provides inspiration, connection, and belonging to all who play it in our state.
Cricket Tasmania’s General Manager of Marketing and Communications Shayne Wicks, and key driver behind the new campaign, cannot wait to see the campaign capture the meaning of cricket that is ingrained within Tasmania.
“As Tasmanians, cricket is in our DNA, a path forged by those who came before us and upheld by every girl and boy who dares to dream.
“From the backyards to the stadiums, and all points in between, this campaign captures the collective passion and pride we all share,” explained Wicks.
Working with Tasmanian Advertising and Design Agency Red Jelly, the TVC was filmed in 12 different locations in all parts of Tasmania to help bring this project to life.
