Overland Track Bookings to Open on 8 July 2025
Editor’s note: the following update was received on Tuesday afternoon.
Tasmania Parks and Wildlife Service (PWS) has advised that bookings for the 2025/26 Overland Track walking season will open at 9:00 on Tuesday 8 July 2025.
The waiting room will open at 7:00 on the same day and the link will be shared on the PWS facebook page.
From 9:00, those in the waiting room will be randomised and placed in the queue to progress through to the booking site.
PWS highly recommends joining the waiting room prior to 9:00, as those who access the link afterwards will be placed at the end of the queue.
Top tips for making a successful booking:
- Have all your info ready to go – including the full names, date of birth, state and nationality of all group members.
- Have your credit card ready to go (Visa or MasterCard only).
- Plan alternate dates in case your preferred date is unavailable. With only 34 places available each day, popular dates can sell out quickly.
“The iconic wilderness experience attracts around 12,000 local, interstate and international walkers each year and traverses some of Tasmania’s most breathtaking alpine environments,” said a spokesperson.
The Overland Track is open year-round and incurs a booking fee of $300 per adult during the peak season from 1 October to 31 May inclusive.
At all other times, walkers are asked to register their walk using PWS’s free online registration system.
