2025 AMWU Fearless Festival: A Festival for Young Women to Be Inspired – ‘The Future is Yours’

The AMWU’s 2025 Fearless Festival is back – bigger, bolder, and more inspiring than ever. This free, two-day event, taking place Thursday 14 August and Friday 15 August, is dedicated to empowering young women across Tasmania to discover bold, exciting career pathways and connect with inspiring mentors.

This year’s theme – ‘The Future is Yours’ – underscores the importance of creating inclusive opportunities for women in traditionally male-dominated industries.

With over 500 young women expected to attend, this year’s Fearless Festival offers hands-on vocational experiences, workplace tours, masterclasses and interactive exhibitions representing over 50 different career pathways, including national security, trades, cheffing, performing arts and more.

“This has become even more critical given the strength of the construction pipeline and the need for skilled workers, with women continuing to be under-represented,” said festival organisers.

The event proudly welcomes Her Excellency the Honourable Barbara Baker AC, Governor of Tasmania, and Major General Natasha Fox among an impressive lineup of trailblazing guest speakers.

The highlight of the festival is the free Fearless Gala Dinner on Friday 15 August at 17:00 at Princes Wharf.

This uplifting evening features five extraordinary women who have achieved greatness in their fields, offering stories of courage, grit and success to inspire the next generation.

The speakers are Her Excellency the Honourable Barbara Baker, Sacha Rattray – Signwriter, Mariah Jardine – President National Women in Construction, Liana Seadon – Kinetic Manager, and Lieutenant General Natasha Anne Fox.

“Two years ago, someone said this was the biggest gathering of successful women in Tasmania – and now it’s doubled in size,” said one of the organisers.

“We’re creating real change – and real career opportunities.”

We encourage all schools to grab this opportunity, particularly regional schools who can often miss out.

The AMWU Fearless Festival is open to all young women aged 15+.

Whether you’re still in school, just starting out, or ready to take the next step, this is your chance to meet mentors, explore careers and ignite your future.
