Election Count Continues – Pre-Poll and Postal Votes Now Key
The election count is well underway with the focus now shifted to the remaining pre-poll and postal votes.
First-preference results have been reported from all polling day locations and some pre-poll centers.
Vote counting finished Sunday 20 July at 13.49 with the latest results available here.
Final results expected by Saturday, August 2.
Current Status and Next Steps
-
- Sunday Counting: Counting resumed at 09:00 Sunday for outstanding pre-poll centre, including Launceston, Smithton, Queenstown, Hobart, Rosny and New Norfolk.
- Monday Recommencement: Counting will restart at 08:30 Monday, with telephone voting results (totaling 8,268 votes) anticipated later in the morning.

- Ongoing Updates: Results will be progressively updated as rechecks and additional counts (including provisional, interstate, and out-of-division votes) are completed.
- Preference Distribution: The Hare-Clark distribution of preferences is expected to begin on 29 July.
- Final Result Projection: Final results are likely to be known by Saturday, August 2.
