Media release – Dean Winter MP, Labor Leader, 5 March 2025
Welcome Casey Farrell
On behalf of the Tasmanian Labor Party I’d like to congratulate Casey Farrell for being elected as the new Labor Member for Lyons.
Casey is a young Tasmanian who has not only operated his own small business, but helped others get new businesses and ideas off the ground – creating jobs and driving the economy. He has been one of the most prominent and respected members of Tasmania’s startup community.
I have said that under my leadership Labor stands for safe, secure and well-paid jobs. We want to increase opportunities for Tasmanians to participate in the workforce, and make sure young people don’t have to leave our state for better opportunities on the mainland.
Casey gets this, and he also exemplifies Labor values of wanting to make sure everyone can access opportunities and services, no matter their background.
Casey will inject some fresh ideas and a different skillset into our team and I look forward to working with him to make Tasmania the best place in the world to grow up, work and retire.
