New Tasmanian Community Fund chair appointed

Kym Goodes, who has a strong track record in the not-for-profit sector, has been appointed as the Tasmanian Community Fund’s Chairperson.

Minister for Community Services, Roger Jaensch, said Ms Goodes has extensive experience spanning three decades in public policy, regional development and social research.

“Ms Goodes’ work over the last three decades has focused on contributing to our community in paid and voluntary roles through social policy and governance, so all Tasmanians have the opportunity to live a good life in our beautiful state,” Minister Jaensch said.

“Matthew Greskie and Michael Buckby have also been appointed as members of the board.

“Mr Greskie has more than 15 years’ experience in board roles and has strong networks across the state’s north.

“Mr Buckby is a fourth generation farmer and has a proven commitment to fostering innovation and sustainable development in rural and regional communities.

“The Tasmanian Community Fund makes an important contribution through providing grants to community organisations to support positive social change and meeting community needs.

“I look forward to seeing the three new board members’ contributions to leadership and governance strengthen the Tasmanian Community Fund over the next three years.”

Minister Jaensch thanked the outgoing members for their service.

“Alex Mckenzie has been a board member since 2019 and has fostered relationships within the community, providing a depth of knowledge for the board,” Minister Jaensch said.

“Sally Darke has served the board for nine years, and held the role of chair for the past eight years. Throughout her tenure she has enabled support for a diverse range of projects and programs that have made a positive impact.”
