HIGHLANDS BUSHFEST CELEBRATES 10 YEARS OF ADVENTURE NEXT WEEKEND & EVERYONE IS INVITED

23 & 24 November 2024 – Bothwell Recreation Ground, Bothwell
9:00 AM to 4:00 PM – Saturday & 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM – Sunday

This weekend-long festival is all about the beautiful community and breathtaking natural beauty of Tasmania’s Central Highlands. A part of Tasmania’s festival landscape now for over a decade, BushFest promises affordable fun for the entire family! Entry is just a gold coin donation.

Hosted by charismatic MC Andrew “Tubes” Taylor, this year’s festivities feature a fantastic lineup of activities. Young adventurers can dive into the adventure Kids Zone, which includes laser tag, train rides, face painting, climbing, commando, nature, and thrilling adventure stamp hunts.

Festival goers will have the chance to learn from experts in various fields, including nature photography, local fishing tips, and casting demonstrations, dark sky, bush survival skills, and the art of making game meat salami. Hands-on workshops will cover everything from cooking over fire to cracking a whip, even basic bush CPR training.

Food lovers will be in for a treat with a wide selection of delicious offerings from local vendors and onsite food vans. Indulge in delights from the Bothwell Bunnies, Sealey’s Café game pies, community sports clubs and the Bothwell Schools sausage sizzle, with plenty of gluten-free options available. This year, we’re excited to host the Inaugural Tasmanian Salami Festival!

“Our goal has always been to create a vibrant celebration of our community and the beautiful landscape we inhabit,” said the Mayor of Central Highlands Loueen Triffitt.

“We invite everyone to experience the joy of the wilds of Tassie, connect with local artisans, pop into the townships and enjoy a weekend filled with family-friendly fun right here in the Central Highlands, Tasmania’s backyard.”

With live performances from festival favourite Bernie Bruce, local musicians, and the celebrated Navy Band of Tasmania.

Please take some time to explore the diverse market stalls and information booths, where you can also enter exciting gate prize giveaways.

Take advantage of interactive wildlife experiences with Tas Reptilia’s live reptile display and see local talents showcased through wood chopping competitions, chainsaw sculpting and working dog trials.

Connect with outdoor experts, engage in booths about hunting, hide tanning, butchering, and taxidermy, and absorb knowledge about the unique environment that surrounds us.

This is not just a festival; it’s a gathering of outdoor enthusiasts ready to share skills, learn from one another, and celebrate the rugged beauty of the Central Highlands.
