Appointment of new CEO for the Integrity Commission

The Tasmanian Government welcomes the Governor’s appointment of Ms Ellen McKenzie as the new Chief Executive Officer of the Integrity Commission.

Attorney-General and Minister for Justice, Guy Barnett, congratulated Ms McKenzie on her appointment to the role.

“Ms McKenzie has over 30 years’ experience in the legal profession, having operated her own private legal practice in Sydney, worked for the Commonwealth Director of Public Prosecutions, and most recently having held the position of Deputy Director, Litigation and External Intervention-Professional Standards with the Legal Regulation Department of the NSW Law Society,” the Attorney-General said.

“Ms McKenzie has a strong professional interest in ethics, administrative decision making and effective case management, all of which align closely with the role of the Integrity Commission.

“On behalf of the Government, I congratulate Ms McKenzie on her appointment to this important role.

“Ms McKenzie’s appointment by the Governor follows a recommendation from the Premier made after consultation with the Joint Standing Commission on Integrity as required under the Integrity Commission Act 2009.

“Ms McKenzie’s appointment follows the resignation of the former Chief Executive Michael Easton, who departed earlier this year. On behalf of the Tasmanian Government, I would like to extend my thanks to Mr Easton for his contribution throughout almost 10 years of service in various roles with the Commission.
