Vale Mick Lawrence: Surfing legend and determined environmentalist passes away unexpectedly
Bob Brown Foundation is deeply saddened to hear of the unexpected death of Mick Lawrence yesterday.
Mick was a kind, funny and wise mentor to our marine campaign and was a force to be reckoned with as an environmental campaigner.
Mick set up the Surfrider Foundation in Tasmania which campaigns to protect our oceans from such impacts as seismic blasting and he recently formed Friends of the Bay, to counter the expansion of industrial farmed salmon in Storm Bay. His energy and passion will be sorely missed in the campaign to protect Tasmania’s unique waters, which Mick loved so dearly.
Bob Brown Foundation sends our condolences to Mick’s family and loved ones, as well as the wider surfing community who knew Mick so well.
