Firefighter Suspended Over Child Porn
Media release – Jeremy Smith, Fire and Emergency Services Commissioner
Firefighter suspended
Tasmania Fire Service has suspended a 41-year-old firefighter from duty after he was charged with possessing child abuse material by the Tasmanian Joint Anti Child Exploitation team, comprising Tasmania Police and the Australian Federal Police.
The man, a firefighter from southern Tasmania, has been immediately suspended from duty pending the outcome of the court process.
This is distressing news, and wellbeing services are being made available to TFS staff and volunteers as required.
It is not appropriate for us to comment further as the matter is before the courts.
