A new outdoor STEM adventure for families in Hobart

‘’This is amazing. I was always looking for outdoor learning activities for my kids when they were young, I wish this had been available a few years ago.” – Melinda Oogjes, mom of three young adults raised Hobart

Engaging families in a STEM scavenger hunt; free to use online or printable sheets to carry with you; descriptions of the plants and animals with photos and audio (where relevant); learn fun facts and other info about the animals and plants of the Hobart Rivulet

There’s no better way to get kids interested in STEM than a scavenger hunt-type adventure.

Created by Kasota Clayton, a 19-year-old recent St Mary’s College graduate, hoping to engage more kids in STEM. The STEM Adventure website offers fun information about some animals and plant life on the Hobart Rivulet. Once you are on the website you can choose your adventure and learn while walking the rivulet checking off what you find. It’s interactive and always an adventure.

The STEM Adventure will be hosting a moon viewing with the Astronomical Society of Tasmanian on the Hobart Rivulet, Saturday 15 June 6-8 pm. This is a free event for kids, families, and moon lovers. Telescopes will be provided but people can bring their own as well. This event will be held at the Molle Street entry to the rivulet near Hamlet Cafe.
