Spreyton thoroughbred trainer fined $4,000
On 9 May 2023, Office of Racing Integrity Stewards conducted an inquiry in relation a complaint received regarding the actions of thoroughbred trainer Ms Liandra Gray at Spreyton racecourse on 2 January 2023.
The inquiry heard that Ms Gray rode a horse when it was lame and that she failed to provide adequate treatment to the horse in a timely manner.
Ms Gray was found guilty of the charge under Australian Rule of Racing AR231(1)(b)(ii) and was fined $4,000 for the offence.
$2000 of the penalty was wholly suspended on the condition that she does not re-offend under the same rule for a period of two years.
