Cycling Results

TIS track cyclists have completed a busy period in Brisbane at the AusCycling National Track Championships and the Oceania Track Championships. Both championships proved to be very successful for the TIS contingent where a number of personal bests were achieved.

Highlights of the National Track Championships included seven podium finishes, headlined by a gold medal and new national record to Felicity Wilson-Haffenden in the Junior 19 Women’s Individual Pursuit. Sam McKee had a breakout championship by winning gold in the Junior 19 Men’s Scratch Race and silver in the Junior 19 Men’s Individual Pursuit. Alex Eaves, Hayden van der Ploeg, Lachie Oliver and Josh Duffy all had podium finishes at the championships.

After the completion of Track Nationals, the Oceania Track Championships were conducted and our TIS cohort continued to perform by claiming eight podium finishes. Again, leading the way was Felicity winning gold in the Junior 19 Women’s Individual Pursuit, breaking her own national record set a week earlier.

Further strong performances included Alex and Hayden winning gold as members of the Australian Junior 19 Men’s Team Pursuit and Josh Duffy winning gold in the Scratch and Team Pursuit.

TIS mountain bikers also competed at the Oceania Championships held in Brisbane. In the Elite Men, Cam Ivory was the first Australian across the line to claim bronze whilst Sam Fox finished fifth.  The mountain bikers are now preparing to head overseas in late April for the start of the World Cup season in Europe.
