New GP Clinic Closer For Brighton, Tasmania

People will find it easier to see a doctor and access quality health care when a new walk-in GP clinic opens in Brighton, one of Tasmania’s fastest growing municipalities.

This week contracts were signed which sees the Australian Government provide $1.6 million to Brighton Council towards the project at 174 Brighton Road.

When the clinic opens mid-2024, people in the greater Brighton region will enjoy improved access to primary health care, reducing demand on local hospital emergency departments, which are severely overstretched.

Quotes attributable to Minister Butler:

“It has never been harder for people to see a doctor and the Albanese Government is determined to change this. This new clinic will make a real difference on the ground.

Quotes attributable to Mr Mitchell:

“The signing of this contract shows I keep my promises. I promised that a Labor government would deliver this clinic and this is another important step in making it happen. I look forward to the doors opening next years so the people of Brighton can get more access to the quality healthcare they deserve.”
