What are the biggest challenges facing women’s liberation today? What are the reasons for the persistence of inequity in the workplace for female dominated industries? How will automation and artificial intelligence affect the women workers of the world?

This International Women’s Day Simple Cider in Hobart will host a group of dedicated local advocates to discuss the radical action needed to secure equity for women in the labour force and intersectional justice for all in our changing society.

Molly Kendall is a Glenorchy councillor who has spent her career developing workers cooperatives to help fight for democracy in the workplace and a fairer society. Saphia Grant is a proud disabled LGBTQIA+ person who works tirelessly as a champion for human rights. Jade Darko is a 32-year-old trans woman, Clarence councillor and longtime advocate for social justice and environmental action. All agree that the struggle for women’s rights is an intersectional struggle that must fight all systems of oppression to be truly liberatory.

The organisers from hope that the evening event will be a fruitful way to round off a strong day of rallies and talks for International Women’s Day 2023. The event is entry by donation and any funds raised will be given to the Mutual Aid Community Kitchen in nipaluna/Hobart.

The event takes place at 189 Elizabeth Street, Hobart from 18:30 to 20:00.
