Community Groups bring Women’s Health Week Activities to the Tasman Peninsula
For Women’s Health Week this year, a Tasman Voice for Health initiative has resulted in a full program of events, for which several businesses and community organisations, including Dunalley Tasman Neighbourhood House, Tasman Pharmacy, Nubeena CWA and the Royal Flying Doctor Service have come together. Activities will range from health education to social gatherings, fitness classes and creative workshop.
Community participants will have the opportunity to learn about their cycle and pelvic floor health, meet their local fitness instructors and take park in a ‘Contraceptive and Menopause Q&A’ with their local pharmacist. The week is rounded off with a film showing of ‘How to Please a Woman.’
“Women’s Health Week (5-11 September) is Australia’s biggest event dedicated to the health of women, girls, and gender diverse people in Australia. This year’s campaign will focus on the top five concerns in women’s health: menopause, pelvic health, mind health, movement, and health checks. It will also remind women that it’s okay to put yourself first. 2022 marks a special year in the history of the event, with Women’s Health Week celebrating its 10th anniversary,” says Tasman Voice for Health and Nubeena CWA organiser Ella Hoban-Kelleher.
“It is great to see local, community-driven solutions to health issues, especially in rural Tasmania where service access can be difficult,” says organiser and Policy Officer for Health Consumers Tas Hannah Fielder.
