Launch of new digital hub to support the palliative care sector
Palliative Care Tasmania Limited (PCT), the state’s peak body for palliative services, is pleased to announce the official launch of PalliHub.org.au a new digital hub and online community platform to support the diverse palliative care workforce.
Funded by the Tasmanian Government as part of the ‘Strengthening Communities of Care’ initiatives and developed by PCT, PalliHub is the is the first platform of its kind in the palliative care community in Australia.
Developed with and for the sector, PalliHub at its core, is a unique platform for people to connect, engage and learn with fellow palliative care sector members who are able to have real-time discussions with their peers and create meaningful engagement with each other.
The State of Palliative Care Report released in November 2021, highlighted that the end-of-life sector comprised almost 50,000 people across the state, including specialist, generalist, community workers, health care professionals, aged care, volunteers and carers all supporting someone living with a life limiting condition.
Colleen Johnstone, CEO of Palliative Care says
“This can often be a busy, siloed and disparate workforce with little opportunity to connect across disciplines. PalliHub.org.au addresses this key sector issue.
“In addition to the incredible online community features, members can support their professional development through tailored resources, access to community libraries, membership directories and exploring educational opportunities and events – all curated for the Tasmanian context.” she said
Colleen Johnstone encourages anyone working, volunteering or caring in the end-of-life sector to get involved.
“PalliHub belongs to the palliative care workforce, now that it has launched, its growth and future will be led by the sector and online communities created.
“With your help and engagement, we can build a supported and connected palliative care community that will benefit all Tasmanians,” she said.
PalliHub.org.au is at the forefront of innovation, connection and workforce development and is absolutely free!
