Fossil Fuel Company Political Donations

Here’s a bit of a short summary of fossil fuel industry donations in the latest patch of political data released at the end of January by the AEC, covering the 2020-21 financial year.

Here’s $193,943 in donations made by the Minerals Council of Australia.

Liberals: $101,192
Nationals: $28,091
Labor: $64,660

Here is oil and gas giant Woodside, that donated a total of $232,350 in 2020/21.

Liberals: $82,000
Nationals: $42,000
Labor: $108,350

Oil and gas lobby group APPEA donated $107,010 in the year.

Liberals: $72,610
Nationals: $2,750
Labor: $31,650

Chevron donated a total of $74,650.

Liberals: $28,750
Nationals: $7,150
Labor: $38,750

Just a reminder at this point – these donations cover the 12 months to 30 June 2021, they don’t include anything since then.

We won’t know what was donated in the lead up to the federal election until this time next year.

Another oil and gas giant, Santos, donated $66,000.

Beetaloo gas explorer/driller Empire Energy donated $65,000

To both Labor ($25,000) and the Liberals ($40,000)

Owner of the Vales Point coal fired power station, Trevor St Baker, donated a total of $165,202.
