This Friday a posse of Mamma Rosas will hit North Hobart, spreading the word about NO WASTE.
She’s a cook, a singer, She’s a storyteller, a legend…and she’s a really funny lady. She is Mamma Rosa….a buxom, brash, spirited Italian woman, who loves to feed people and make them laugh. You may have heard of her: she is a born and bred Tasmanian Italian and is dedicated to the love of food, family friendship and community .
On Friday people from all over Hobart are asked to dress as Mamma Rosa, and be prepared for some party shenanigans. There will be games and prizes to be won: “Pin the Fig Leaf On The Statue Of David” and more.
There will also be a short walk down the North Hobart strip to entertain the locals with a group of 30 or more Mamma Rosas, distributing merriment (and maybe the odd flyer to Mamma Rosa’s MastaPasta Classes (Held most Sundays at the Italian Club). It’s going to be a barrel of laughs and interesting to watch as we march down the street spreading the Mamma Rosa message.
This year is very exciting as Mama Rosa has a commitment to no wasteand has just been named the Wastage Ambassador by Kingborough Council. Next week begins her tour of schools, starting with Margate Primary, to promote her “No Waste Nutting” campaign to encourage everyone to reduce, reuse and recycle.
