Sustainable Living Festival Launceston
Tasmanians can look forward to a ‘festival of inspiration, innovation and conversation’ at the 2021 Sustainable Living Festival.
Tamar NRM is partnering with businesses, organisations, community groups and individuals to deliver a program that encourages sustainable living in the community.
Organisers say that the event will showcase diverse and inspiring living options focused on a happier, healthier and sustainable future.
• Discover how to make your home warmer, greener and cheaper to run.
• Explore the marketplace of stalls, workshops and activities.
• Watch cooking demonstrations Better Homes and Gardens celebrity TV chef, Fast Ed
• Talk to local producers about their farming practices, and take home a selection of
locally grown produce.
• Talk to green local businesses and organisations in the TasNetworks Exhibitors Hall
• Listen to and meet our special guest Planet Ark Co-Founder, Jon Dee
• Hear an array of experts talk about sustainability
• Bring along your preloved clothing and toys and be a part of the clothing and toy swap
• Join the permaculture, composting and gardening workshops in the Community Garden.
• Learn some gardening tricks from our expert speakers
• Take a guided wetlands and native gardens tour with our passionate gardens staff
• Ride your bike, attend a bike maintenance workshop, learn some pro skills with the Tassie
MTB Devils and then pop it into the TBUG bike valet service and go off to explore.
• Relax and enjoy non-stop live entertainment
• Visit the outdoor multicultural food court for some delicious treats

The festival is encouraging those who buy tickets to think about making a donation towards the cost of a stranger’s ticket. The Sustainable Living Festival Pay It Forward initiative ensures everyone has the chance to be a part of the event, even if the cost is out of their reach.
SUSTAINABLE BUSINESS OF THE YEAR AWARDS
To coincide with the 2021 Sustainable Living Festival, Tasmanians from across the state are invited to nominate businesses that place sustainability at the core of their business practice.
The Tasmanian Sustainable Business Award will recognise businesses that
– incorporate innovative sustainable practices and policies into your business strategies and
goals,
– invest in training to ensure work-place culture is inclusive and supporting of diversity
– have carbon-neutral practices to reduce waste and to conserve water and/or energy
– use sustainable vendors/suppliers
– have energy-efficient product purchasing policies
– have policies and practices that support a circular economy
This award provides an opportunity for all Tasmanian businesses who practice sustainability to be recognised and rewarded for their commitment to the future.
The overall winning business will be decided by Planet Ark, National Tree Day and National Op Shop Day Co-Founder, Jon Dee.
Dee is the Sustainable Living Festival’s special guest, speaking on Friday Oct 8 at the awards ceremony, and at the Festival on Oct 9.
