Nurses Urged to Answer Vaccination Call

Media release – Dale Webster, Commander, Tasmanian COVID-19 Vaccine Operations, 2 August 2021

Nurses urged to answer the call

As Tasmania’s COVID-19 vaccine rollout accelerates, the Department of Health is looking to add to its vaccination team.

Enrolled nurses have now been approved to join the ranks of registered nurses, paramedics, pharmacists, and doctors on the frontline of our vaccination effort.

Today, we are encouraging any AHPRA-registered EN (EN) who would like additional hours to contact us and join us to help vaccinate as many Tasmanians as possible.

At a minimum, we will be asking ENs to work at least one eight-hour shift per week at our vaccination clinics which continue to open across the state, some operating seven-days-a-week, from about 8am to 4pm.

Commander, Tasmanian COVID-19 Vaccine Operations Dale Webster said the vaccination rollout was one of the biggest health logistical exercises in the country’s history.

“Tasmania is after ENs to answer the call,” Mr Webster said.

“Our rollout program leads the nation and our success is built on the professionalism of our valued vaccinators.

“We are doing everything we can to get as many Tasmanians vaccinated as quickly as possible.

“Please, if you can, join us in this mission.”

Vaccinators need to have completed the online Australian COVID Vax Learning Program and have current statements of proficiency in CPR and anaphylaxis.

ENs with lapsed accreditation must update their status before being considered.
