Recounts for the Launceston City and Tasman councils completed

Two local government recounts were conducted today.

Launceston City Council

A recount was completed to fill a vacancy on the Launceston City Council created by the election of Councillor (Alderman) Janie Finlay to the Tasmanian House of Assembly declared on 14 May 2021. Twelve eligible candidates nominated to contest the recount.

Krista Preece has been elected as Councillor (Alderman) to serve until the 2022 ordinary elections. An abstract of the recount can be viewed on our website.

Tasman Council

Following the resignation of Councillor Rhonda Tomlinson on 5 May 2021, a recount was completed today to fill a vacancy on the Tasman Council. Five eligible candidates nominated to contest the recount.

Daniel Kelleher has been elected as Councillor to serve until the 2022 ordinary elections. An abstract of the recount can be viewed on our website.
