Launceston to host 2022 AusCycling BMX National Championships
Launceston will play host to the biggest event on the Australian BMX calendar with the announcement that the 2022 AusCycling BMX National Championships will be held at the Launceston BMX Club next year.
This is exciting news for Launceston as we will welcome around 3000 visitors as part of the championships.
The Tasmanian Liberal Government is pleased to support this event with a total of $250 000 through the Event Attraction Fund.
The partnership between the Tasmanian Government, AusCycling and Launceston BMX club will see the event take place from 21 – 27 November 2022.
It is the first time since 2002 that the nation’s premier annual domestic event has been held in Tasmania and the first time in 26 years that the nationals have taken place in Launceston.
I am sure that these events will only get bigger and more exciting, providing a great platform from which to promote the sport, encourage participation and to boost our visitor economy.
This Government has been the strongest supporter of sporting events with cycling sports continuing to grow in popularity and mature.
Originally scheduled to be held in Launceston in 2020 but postponed due to COVID-19, the event is expected to bring in an estimated 3000 visitors to the state.
