A convicted conman has been sentenced to nine months in prison after he published defamatory videos about a senior Tasmanian government minister.

YouTuber and ‘self-employed journalist’ Kane Dallow was found guilty of four charges of contempt of court brought against him by Liberal MP Michael Ferguson.

Mr Ferguson initially launched court action against Dallow over two videos he had made and published that contained defamatory allegations about him.

During the proceedings, the court ordered Dallow refrain from publishing and distributing the videos.

Instead, Dallow created a third video, giving an update on the legal action and repeating the defamatory allegations. That incident became the subject of the first contempt charge.

The court then ordered he remove the third video as soon as possible but ‘he intentionally disobeyed’ the order. This became the subject of the second contempt charge.
