Youth Week Tasmania 2021 is shaping up to be bigger and better than ever, following the cancellation of youth week in 2020 due COVID-19 restrictions.
Tasmania’s largest celebration of young people kicks off today, with new and exciting events planned across the state.
With events continuing from Friday, 30 April through to Sunday, 9 May, young people will have the chance to attend music festivals, movie nights, street art and cartooning workshops, silent discos and more.
Youth Network of Tasmania CEO Tania Hunt said Youth Week Tasmania is a fantastic opportunity for young Tasmanians to celebrate being a young person in Tasmania and to showcase their many talents and skills.
“Youth Week Tasmania is about acknowledging the amazing contributions young people make in their communities as well as providing young people with a platform to voice their opinions on issues important to them,” she said.
The bumper 2021 set of events is because of events that were funded for 2020 but not held are able to be staged this time around, plus additional events funded for this year.
“This year’s theme ‘We’ve Got This!’ was chosen by young people to acknowledge the adversity faced by many young Tasmanians in 2020 but importantly, recognise the resilience shown by young people and hope for their future” Hunt said.
Youth Week Tasmania (YWT) is the largest single celebration of young people on the Tasmanian youth calendar.
YWT provides young people aged 12-25 years with a platform to display their talents and skills, express their views and ideas, raise issues of concern, and to actively participate in events to celebrate being a young Tasmanian.
The full calendar of events can be found the YNOT What’s On page.
