Braddon, Bass, Clark Candidates Forums

Posted on

Compared to other Australian states, Tasmania has weaker political donation laws, less government transparency and limited public accountability. Electoral reform in Tasmania is decades overdue.

The Australia Institute Tasmania is hosting Candidates Forums ahead of the upcoming state election, on the theme of Good Government. This state election is an opportunity for Tasmania to emerge as a national leader in good government. Tasmanians are entitled to hear detailed proposals for reform, for them to weigh up against other jurisdictions.

These forums provide an opportunity to ask candidates questions about transparency and public accountability, the gaming industry, truth in political advertising and Tasmania’s inadequate Integrity Commission. Forums will be moderated by Eloise Carr, Director of the Australia Institute Tasmania.

A candidate from all political parties, and all independent candidates have been invited to speak at the forum.
