The Battle of Waratah

Posted on

How brilliant is the (outgoing) Minster for Obfuscation?

On 30 March his primary foot soldier – Bryce Graham, Manager Water, Management and Assessment Branch – sent a Registered Letter to all those in the Waratah community indicating that their submissions to DPIPWE that the Waratah Reservoir should not be decommissioned as proposed by TasWater, had been rejected.

The letter stated that there was a “right to appeal …. within 14 days of the date of the notice (30 March) “.

I received my Registered Letter yesterday, others received their advice today (8 April), who knows how many have not received their letter yet?

I am advised it will cost an individual $336 to make an appeal.

Sooo – I have now only 5 days to make a submission, others perhaps even less, and it has to be done in writing – hence totally reliant on Australia Post.

Transparency, consultation, working with the community, understanding, empathy = none of the above.

And this in the context of a state election?

Not the smartest thing this Minister has ever countenanced.

Maybe he was having a rapture?

And why does it cost $$$ to make an appeal? Party donations or … ??

Perhaps ALL those wishing to be elected, in whatever division, for whatever party or independent organisation they represent, might wish to support this amazing community, and indicate such in all their political comments and advertising.

How to destroy a community, in order to look like a Commander – remember the Battle of Waterloo!
