Media release – Port Arthur Historic Site Management Authority, 28 December 2020

New exclusive performance in the Separate Prison at Port Arthur this January

Prison & Power, an all-new performance that delves deep into the stories of coercion and corruption in the convict settlement will be performed at Port Arthur.

Another production by the successful partnership of Port Arthur Historic Site and Turin Production, this show will enthral audiences in the most haunting structure of the penal settlement, the Separate Prison. Running about one hour, the actors bring convicts, wardens, Commandants and Magistrates back to life in colourful style across three vignettes that will challenge traditional archetypes of the powerful and the powerless. Truth be told the real power of the production lies in the fact that these were real people and their histories are documented in the archives of the historic site.

Exclusive performances of Prison & Power will be held Friday and Saturday evenings from 5:00pm to 6.30pm, and between 4:00pm and 5.30pm on Sunday evenings from 31 December to 31 January 2021. Dinner packages are also available with the 1830 Restaurant and Bar. Tickets are limited so bookings are essential. More information and reservations can be made on the website www.portarthur.org.au or by phoning 1800 659 101.
