New Online System for Travellers to Tasmania
From today, entrants to Tasmania will need to have a G2G pass.
A new online travel registration system called the G2G pass (Good to Go) has been introduced for people wanting to travel to Tasmania, including Tasmanian residents.
The G2G pass is available from today (July 16) and will provide an online application system to inform travellers as to whether their application was successful as well as any conditions if they are permitted entry.
“The pass, which will be scanned by Biosecurity Tasmania officers at arrival ports, will also enhance the application screening process on entry,” said the State Control Centre. The site recommends applying for a pass at least three days before the intended date of travel. “On average, applicants can expect to receive a decision within 5 business days of submission,” says information on the G2G site. “On rare occasions it may take longer than this due to spikes in the number of applicants.”
The G2G pass replaces the existing paper-based and online processes, such as the Tasmanian Arrival Form and only Essential Traveller Application forms. There is no fee for the application nor the pass itself.
Those who have been granted Essential Traveller status under the previous system, for work or compassionate or medical reasons will be required to reapply through new G2G pass.
People intending to travel to Tasmania should register their travel on the G2G pass by going to https://www.g2gpass.com.au, follow the instructions, fill in the required information, provide evidence where required before making their submission for travel.
Applicants must declare if they have visited “some locations in Australia that pose a high-risk of COVID-19 infection” recently.
People can then track their submission status using the website or G2G pass app and will receive an email advising them of the outcome. If their application is successful, the G2G pass is issued before arrival in the form of a QR code. This code must be shown to Biosecurity Tasmania officers and scanned upon arrival in Tasmania.
The G2G pass can be displayed on a smartphone/tablet or printed version without the need for human contact.
If a person is travelling with children, they can add their details to a G2G application. Children under the age of 18 will only need their own individual G2G PASS if they are not travelling with a parent.

Western Australia has also adopted the system.
