It’s 52 years since the devastating Black Tuesday Fires in Tasmania.
On February 7th, 1967, dozens of fires across the state developed into a firestorm.
Within a few hours, 64 people had died, 900 people were injured, and tens of thousands of hectares were burnt.
Journalist Tess Lawrence was a schoolgirl living in Hobart at the time of the fires in 1967, and still remembers Black Tuesday vividly.
She speaks to ABC’s Sam Wilkinson.
