November kicks off with stormy weather
- A series of fronts will bring potential thunderstorms, strong gusts and showers across Tasmania today, Friday and Saturday.
- The north west is forecast to receive 10-20 mm of rain today, with 5-15 mm to fall in the west and 1-5 mm elsewhere.
- Isolated thunderstorms are possible this afternoon and evening, mainly in the north.
- Northeast to northwesterly winds are expected to reach around 60 km/h today and will re-strengthen on Friday when strong northwesterly to westerly gusts will potentially reach 90-100 km/h during Friday evening.
- Friday will also see showers for most of the state with 10-20 mm forecast in the north and west, although 25-35 mm is possible in elevated areas, and 2-10 mm elsewhere.
- Gusty thunderstorms are possible statewide on Friday.
- Saturday will see strong gusty winds continue for most of the day with peak gusts potentially reaching 90-100 km/h by late afternoon.
- The stormy weather will bring some humidity to the state with average temperatures expected to reach the low 20s on Friday before dropping on Saturday following a cold front late Friday.
- The snowline is expected to lower to 700 metres late Friday and 600 metres early Saturday before rising during the day.
- Settled conditions are expected on Sunday.
