Scruffy Hawkins passes away …

Posted on

Dear Editor and Readers of Tasmanian Times …

Last night Scruffy Hawkins passed away after a short illness.

She will be remembered for her election tilt when she stood against the windbag Senator Erich Abetz; publicised through the good offices of Tasmanian Times.

Her campaign slogan “If you are going to vote for a dog please vote for a real one” has now achieved legendary status.

She honourably withdrew from the campaign at the last minute on discovering that she was a dual national.

Her parentage on her mother’s side was a Smithfield Terrier resident for many generations on this Island, but on her father’s side a first generation Welsh Collie.

However as a result of her breeding she was strong in the tooth, and clever with it.

She will be sadly missed by all her many friends and admirers.

Archie and I particularly thank her French friend Hugo from Devonport, now an international star living the good life in Singapore for his kind thoughts.

No flowers. All donations please, to the RSPCA.
