Greens candidate for Braddon, Jarrod Edwards, provides the following comments on the salmon farming giant Tassal’s bungled attempt at trying to win over the Tasmanian surfing community for their proposed fish farm expansion into King Island:
Jarrod Edwards said, “From all accounts, it appears Tassal has tried to make out it had the support of various community groups for this PR exercise, without even gaining the consent of these groups in the first place.
“Is Tassal trying to put members of the community, like leaders of surfing groups, in a position where they are pressured into giving support to projects on behalf of the wider community, or even worse, pretending that these individuals and groups are already supportive of fish farms on King Island?
“I call on Brett Whiteley and Justine Keay to condemn the clumsy and ill-informed PR tactics employed by Tassal.
“This is the sort of bull that the public have come to expect from these industrial fish farm giants and all candidates for the Braddon by-election should call them out on it,” he concluded.
