Meningococcal vaccine program
The Hodgman Liberal Government will expand Tasmania’s meningococcal vaccination program.
While the current vaccination program for high risk groups is consistent with advice provided by the Health Department, given heightened community concern the Government will consider how the current program could be further improved.
We will continue to work with our public health experts to review eligible age groups and consider coverage for all vaccine-preventable strains.
It was the Hodgman Liberal Government that introduced a state-based vaccination program for meningococcal W just last year and we will continue to take action to ensure Tasmanians have appropriate public health protection.
Further details will be announced next week including the additional funding to support the expanded program
