When will Scott Bacon correct the record?
Today, Labor’s former failed Finance Minister Scott Bacon refused on several occasions to correct the record after twice misleading the Parliament yesterday in his insipid budget reply speech.
Bacon’s false claim number 1:
Bacon: “We have seen the public service effectively take a real wage cut under this Government…”
FACT: Since the Government introduced our responsible and affordable public sector wages policy of 2 per cent per annum, the Consumer Price Index has averaged just 1.6 per cent per annum.
Bacon’s false claim number 2:
Bacon: “…in four years’ time we will be back into net debt in the general government sector of over a billion dollars…”
FACT: The Budget Papers clearly show that General Government Net Cash and Investments will stay positive this year and every year of the forward estimates.
It’s bad enough Mr Bacon is too lazy to deliver an alternative budget, but that’s no excuse to mislead Parliament.
