Rural Business Tasmania (RBT) has welcomed the Government’s announcement of an additional
$595,000 for their Rural Financial Counselling Services and Farm Business Mentoring.
RBT Board Chairman, Geoff Fader, said they were delighted to see the confirmation of an election
commitment to Rural Business Tasmania.
“This funding will go a long way to supporting farming communities across Tasmania,” Mr Fader said.
“Our Rural Financial Counselling Services provide vital and confidential counsel to primary
producers, fisherman and small rural businesses that are suffering financial hardship and have no
alternative sources of impartial support.
“These services help our clients gain a better understanding of their financial position, identify
business and financial risks and available government business schemes, as well as referring clients
to specialist providers.
“The additional funding announced yesterday recognises the importance of strong support networks
and programs for farmers and those working in Tasmania’s rural areas and will ensure the continued
growth of our state’s agriculture industry.”
The State Budget announcement follows the extension of the current grant deed to all Rural
Financial Counselling Service providers by Federal Minister Littleproud last week.
Mr Fader said he was pleased to see the continued support for the crucial programs assisting those
going through financial hardship or drought across the nation.
“Rural Business Tasmania is committed to giving back to the hard-working individuals and families
who give so much to their communities,” he said.
“Our counsellors provide a vital service to help those going through hardship get back on their feet
and build healthy livelihoods into the future.”
