Potentially damaging winds overnight

• A Severe Weather Warning for damaging winds has been issued as a cold front approaches Tasmania.
• Northwesterly winds will average 60 to 70 km/h with peak gusts around 100 km/h expected around parts of eastern and central Tasmania late this evening and early Friday morning.
• Showers extend statewide this evening ahead of the front with totals around 5-15mm about the north and west, and 30-40mm about the Western Tiers.
• Showers continue on Friday with expected totals of 15-25mm in the west, 10-20mm in the north and 30-50mm over elevated areas in the north and west, but will begin to ease Friday evening.
