AEU members welcome announcement of additional teachers in budget
AEU members welcomed today’s announcement of the allocation of more teachers in this year’s budget.
“Schools are in immediate need of additional staff, to give students the attention they need to succeed,” said Ms Richardson.
“We welcome the additional allocation of new teachers, including into school farms, as we support education opportunities that provide rich and diverse learning experiences for our students.
“While we support this announcement, there is still significant additional need for staff in our schools.
“Tasmanian students urgently need additional professional support staff such as social workers, school psychologists and speech and language therapists in schools.
“Increasing numbers of students with high and complex needs are entering our schools, and there’s a critical shortage of professional support staff to meet their needs.”
